WOW, WHO KNEW? Unique Printing Applications

We experiment with new substrates almost daily. Our new LED UV Flatbed Printer with a 4’ x 8’ full-bleed print area can print on just about anything!

In addition to printing large volumes of outdoor lawn signs and indoor retail signage, we also printed on three Beverage-Air cooler doors. The doors were at least 10 years old, scratched, and dented in some areas.

Printing on old wavy metal proved challenging. Still, our team created a masterpiece using a distressed design to hide imperfections.

On the first pass, we used a primer under our ink base to ensure adhesion, white ink over the black enamel finish, and CMYK to create the full-color image. For the second printed pass, we applied a clear varnish. Due to the two passes and seven inks used, each door took about five minutes to print after about an hour and a half of measurements, shimming, and fine-tuning.
